K❤P | KIDS LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY | LOGO
This playful logo was developed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek for long-time collaborator Jan von Holleben and his latest adventure: Kids Love Photography. It is a new imprint focusing on lovely photography books for children.

VISUAL IDENTITY KIT | SOCIAL MEDIA ASSETS
In addition to the core logo, we also developed various social media assets to help launch Kids Love Photography. This first tool kit forms part of a new visual identity system.
___ A range of vibrant fluorescent colours was carefully selected and are intended to be applied as background colours or gradients. Formats were prepared for stills and animations for social media usage, such as Instagram showreels and stories.
___ Optional text frame versions of the logo – with its characteristic view finder corners – were also added to the versatile identity tool kit. They were designed to eventually be used for occasional social media posts featuring background colours and/or photography backgrounds.

FL@33 CONTRIBUTION | 19 June 2022
As printed in the publication: The Roman numeral for 19 is XIX – a rather beautifully symmetric typography gem to play with. Given that XIX consists of three elements, FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek projected the letterforms into a white corner of a room to explore the spatial qualities of the distorted shapes across three surfaces.
___ The intriguing results are funnily enough in a similar vein to the cover treatment shown here and the way FL@33 is printed on this customised and numbered slipcase.

B.I.O. (BY INVITATION ONLY) BUTTON BADGE SERIES | 2004 – ONGOING
FL@33 contributions for our ongoing design initiative B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Button Badge Series 1–22 for FL@33's sister-company stereohype.com – London-based graphic art label, online boutique and experimental platform for talents from around the world.
___ Selected international graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and artists are regularly invited by FL@33 to submit one single design or a set of four, seven or twelve for this one inch (25mm) button badge series. FL@33 contributes to all B.I.O. Series between one and 14 designs each.
___ Having started in 2004 with B.I.O. Series 1 – it took us eight years to catch up with the years. Between B.I.O. Series 12 releases and B.I.O. Series 22 and until 2023 they were launched annually.
___ Previous releases B.I.O. Series 1–14 formed part of the extensive 10th Stereohype anniversary celebrations that included the exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 and a book of the same name.

___ Stereohype.com sells B.I.O. series badges separately and gives them away as a free surprise badge with purchased Stereohype T-shirts and other items.
___ The growing button badge collection – currently already featuring 1,777 individual designs – consists of all B.I.O. contributions, winners of Stereohype's annual button badge design competition, Stereohype Mascot Squirrels and additional series such as collaborative AFOMFS series, MICA series, 10x10 series and Emoji series.
___ We also call them mobile mini canvases.

GIFT BOX VARIANTS | PAST AND PRESENT
Sets of three, four, seven or now also twelve button badges come in a special packaging and are exlusively available at stereohype.com and selected stockists around the world. This special packaging for used to be a clear resealable plastic bag with attached swing tag for sets up to four but the presentation has been replaced in 2019 with a sophisticated machtbox-style gift box. An elegant and more sustainable cardboard packaging that is used for all badge orders using various box sizes.
___ Special Stereohype gift boxes of seven were also developed by FL@33 including a limited edition gift box special with custom shoelace for selected AFOMFS (A Few Of My Favourite Sneakers) button badges.

BUTTON BADGE MOTIF PRINTS | FINE ART STEREOHYPE EDITION
Hand-picked designs from the FL@33-curated collection are now also available as Button Badge Motif Prints.
___ The super-vibrant Fine Art Giclée Prints feature selected designs from Stereohype's ever-growing one inch (25mm) button badge collection – including B.I.O. Series designs by FL@33 and others. High resolution files of the circular artworks are enlarged to seven inch (178mm) and printed with love and vivid archival inks on a beautifully textured 310gsm Hahnemühle paper (portrait, 8x10" / 203x254mm).
___ The print edition already includes 524 artworks with more being added every year.

\/\/\/\ WALDRUCHE DE MONTREMY | CHAMPAGNE BOTTLE | PACKAGING DESIGN
FL@33 was commissioned by members of the French family Waldruche De Montremy to develop a minimal, modern identity for a new champagne brand, including a family shield redesign, a champagne brand identity with packaging solutions and a champagne logo system.

\/\/\/\ CONCEPT GENERATION | CUVÉE NAME | ANNUAL PATTERN
Focusing on the women in the family tree, the champagne's cuvée is identified by a selected first name of a family member instead of merely stating the year of production. The changing cuvée name forms part of the champagne logo. Starting with “Cuvée Marie Annick”, the cuvée will be updated every year and going forward.
___ The visual identity system was created to encourage a playful treatment of various different patterns such as wallpapers that can be found in the Château du Montremy or maps of the property and surroundings .
___ For the launch of the identity we selected an original French “Toile de Jouy” as found in the Château and we also photographed others for future editions.
___ The Toile de Jouy pattern is an integral part of the visual identity and is shown on one side of the otherwise white paper bottle bag. It also features on a deluxe silk fabric gift wrap and on the champagne's online boutique.

FUROSHIKI BIN TSUTSUMI | \/\/\/\ CUVÉE BOTTLE BAG | CUSTOMISED TISSUE PAPER
It's true – Furoshiki Bin Tsutsumi sounds more Japanese than French – and that's because it is – an extremely sustainable Japanese bottle wrap folding technique using a square piece of printed sustainably sourced silk.
___ In the hope people will keep it, this silk fabric is not only an elegant gift wrap but when folded correctly, it is also creating a small handle at the top to carry the bottle. The printed silk is the \/\/\/\ luxury gift wrap in this range and is given to customers of at least one complete case of six bottles of champagne.
___ A sophisticated but slightly less expensive gift packaging is a customised paper bottle bag – enhanced with gold-foiled champagne logo and family shield and the red cuvée-exclusive pattern. There are currently three of these bags in each case of 6 bottles.
___ Still very elegant, an optional customised tissue paper is offered as standard gift wrap for each bottle of champagne. Printed in gold on white, it only features the family shield. This standard tissue gift wrap can be used across different cuvées.

THE YEAR THAT WAS NOT | \/\/\/\ PRESS
As with so many things around the world, this project too, was delayed by the pandemic. Design and production already started in 2018 but came to a grinding halt before the planned launch in 2020. It all finally came together at the end of 2021 and we now look forward to regular updates.

Before the official launch of the champagne, this meant that we were not really allowed to mention the press or show the content on our website or social media channels. Very strange times indeed. Who would have thought in 2019 that the fairly slow wheels of book publishing would overtake us...

\/\/\/\ LOGO DESIGN | FIRST CUVÉE | CHAMPAGNE WALDRUCHE DE MONTREMY
FL@33 was commissioned by members of the French family Waldruche De Montremy to develop a minimal, modern identity for a new champagne brand, including a family shield redesign, a champagne brand identity with packaging solutions and a \/\/\/\ champagne logo system.
___ The new FL@33-designed champagne logo is often shown together with the redesigned family shield and both were therefore created in tandem. The boutique champagne's cuvée – identified by a selected name of the family – forms part of the logo and will be updated every year.

DESIGN | CROWNS AND ZIG AND ZAG
There comes the time in every designer's life when a zig-zag logo is one of the favourite solutions to be presented for client's initials or company names – abbreviations such as MMM, MVV and the likes – and this time zig-zag, with a touch of royalty and other associations, won the race.
___ Waldruche de Montremy: WM or \/\/\/\ – resembling a little bit the silhouette of the Château Du Montremy with its two towers. The logo's shape is also like a crown and a bit like an exploding cork.

Champagne!

To be precise: Champagne Waldruche de Montremy, Cuvée Marie Annick, Brut Régence – the first of hopefully many cuvées to come. It was produced in a limited edition of 500 bottles – all featuring the new logo screenprinted in gold directly onto the glass.

FAMILY SHIELD | COAT OF ARMS | DESIGN REFRESH | WALDRUCHE DE MONTREMY
FL@33 was commissioned by members of the French family Waldruche De Montremy to develop a minimal, stripped-down and modern design of the family's coat of arms.
___ The design refresh of the heraldic escutcheon – or shield – on which the coat of arms is featured was created with the family's champagne brand in mind for which FL@33 also created a new \/\/\/\ logo at the same time – together with a brand identity and champagne packaging design.
___ The coat of arms and the family's champagne brand logo will often be shown together from now on and were therefore developed by FL@33 as part of a joint new visual language.

A FEW MORE WORDS ABOUT THE DESIGN REFRESH
Shown below are a just few of the numerous incarnations of the Waldruche De Montremy coat of arms.
___ The Waldruche De Montremy title was reportedly given by a grateful Mary Stuart – Queen of Scots or Mary I of Scotland – who apparently stayed at the château occasionally.

History | Hereditary symbols | The hereditary symbols such as the triangular elements, stars and rings were all maintained so that the originally represented family achievements are not altered. The triangular elements represent the roof of a house such as the Château du Montremy and signifies protection and faithful service. The ring symbolises fidelity and is the sign of the fifth son. The hexagram (Greek) or sexagram (Latin) – the six-pointed geometric star figure – or mullet – is rendered with an outline in the new design – representing the pierced mullet as found in traditional incarnations. Typically having five points, the mullets with six points are presumed in German-Nordic heraldry, while five points are presumed in Gallo-British heraldry.
___ Elements were optimised so that the shield can easily be printed with one colour only – black on golden champagne bottle neck wraps for example – but also so that the escutcheon can be reproduced in very small that way.

History | Tradional shield shape | The bottom shape of of the shield originally features a so-called “French” style used from the 17th century. The slightly curved lines at the bottom meet at the centre, pointing downwards. This shield shape was used in the Armorial général de France in 1696 for example.
___ This “French” shape of the base is found earlier, in French and English heraldry, from ca. 1600 (“Stuart” type).

21st century | Simplification | However – since there is no possible mix-up with similar heraldic shield shapes the design refresh also involved the shape of the shield itself.
___ After countless variations and considerations we all agreed to further simplify the coat of arms and replace the curved lines at the base by introducing straight lines that still meet at the centre of the escutcheon pointing downwards.
___ The result is a minimal, carefully considered and timeless design of the family's shield.

STEREOHYPE | 15TH ANNIVERSARY PACKAGING DESIGN | ONGOING
Packaging solution designed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek. When the studio's sister-company – graphic art label and online boutique Stereohype – celebrated its 15th anniversary we thought of a great birthday present. To mark this milestone we decided to treat our customers and ourselves by introducing a superb new way to package our beautiful and growing 1" (25mm) button badge collection.
___ The elegant new packaging features a foil-blocked hand-printed Stereohype mascot squirrel in fancy rose-gold. The gift boxes look and feel sophisticated, are sustainable and made of matt black cardboard. These new Stereohype gift boxes are now used in three different sizes for online badge orders.
___ We also redesigned Stereohype's address label stickers to go with the brand-new Pizza-style cardboard boxes that do now protect the new gift boxes with style when they are shipped to Stereohype's customers and contributors around the world.

STEREOHYPE | MATCHBOX-STYLE GIFT BOXES: 3–25 BUTTON BADGES
Exlusively available at stereohype.com and selected stockists around the world the black matchbox-style gift boxes come in three sizes.
___ Pick 'n' mix orders of individual badge designs will automatically be pinned into one of the gift boxes. The smallest is for 1–5 button badges. The medium size is used for button badge quantities from 6–12 while the largest gift box can hold up to 25 badges.
___ Until now separetely ordered Stereohype button badges were stuck to postcards but customers will from now on receive their badge orders in one of the three available super-elegant matchbox-style gift boxes that FL@33 designed for this occasion.

STEREOHYPE | ARTIST GIFT BOXES: 3–4 BUTTON BADGES
The smallest of the three available matchbox-style gift boxes is also used for sets of three and four (and in one single case so far even a set of five).
___ For now Stereohype 'only' transformed the approximately 300 existing sets into this new gift box format – including the ones shown here on white background that contain FL@33-designed button badge sets of three and four.
___ They are now called Artist Gift Boxes: 3–5 button badges. In the future we will also introduce Themed Gift Boxes: 3–5 button badges – very much as we did for the Stereohype / Habitat sets – featuring more than one artist in one gift box. Four different dogs or cats for example created by various artists... These will be curated and compiled by FL@33 like the larger Artist / Themed Gift Boxes: 7 button badges.
___ The popular 1″ (25mm) button badges are selected from Stereohype's growing collection of already over 1,700 individual FL@33-curated designs, created by over 650 international graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and artists.

OTHER FL@33-DESIGNED PACKAGING SOLUTIONS | PAST AND PRESENT
FL@33 developed various other packaging solutions for the graphic art label. Stereohype's sophisticated 15th anniversary matchbox-style (Artist / Themed) Gift Boxes: 3–4 button badges for example replaced the sets of three or four swing tag packs used during the first 15 years of Stereohype for online orders.
___ Notably there were also vast amounts of themed sets of four that Habitat commissioned and that came in a custom packaging we developed for them.
___ Sets of seven were initially introduced in long gift boxes with top lid. These Artist / Themed Gift Boxes: 7 button badges are now gradually replaced with the new matchbox-style version.

High resolution files of the circular artworks are enlarged to seven inch (178mm) and printed with love and vivid archival inks on a beautifully textured 310gsm Hahnemühle paper (portrait, 8x10" / 203x254mm).

Following Agathe and Tomi's four previous contributions to the Fedrigoni 365 calendars in 2018, 2019 and 2020 by Italian paper company Fedrigoni, FL@33 was kindly included for a fourth year running, possibly as the only contributor to all four calendars so far (tbc).
___ FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek contributed a visual interpretation of an allocated number that was then randomly used for date in 2021.
___ About 1,000 contributions by artists, designers and studios form the beautifully designed and digitally and randomly collated calendar and design compendium Fedrigoni 365 (2021).

FL@33 CONTRIBUTION | NUMBER 29
The number 29 with an allocated 'seed word' Break – in our for the date 29 January 2021 – was interpreted by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek. Created in the night before our summer break – surrounded by mountains of boxes after moving house and studio.
___ Playing along the edge of legibility of two merged and intertwined numbers 2 and 9, they almost disappear as they form a joined new form, ‘breaking’ away from their expected appearance.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fedrigoni 365, designed by TM for Fedrigoni UK, started four years ago as an unprecedented collaboration involving designers, illustrators and photographers from throughout the UK, gathered together by an open call for entries.
___ Now in its fourth year, the book has once again managed to pull together hundreds of creative masterminds. Following from black and white renditions of the calendar and the colourful 2020 edition, this year’s calendar is even more ambitious featuring even more contributors. Design contributions were dynamically selected and printed by an algorithm resulting in 4,000 unique and numbered publications.
___  The copy that was assigned to FL@33 and that prominently features our name in black on the back of the book is a turquoise / cyan copy 261/4000. We later got our hands on another two copies that include our contribution: A fluo orange / pink copy 2540/4000 featuring our number 29 in April in fluorescent pink. Another copy is purple / magenta – number 2609/4000 – with our 29 appearing in July in dark purple.

OFFICIAL BRIEF
Your number: 29. Seed word: Break. The seed word is given to inspire your creative direction, and is open to your interpretation.
___ As an ode to community and togetherness this year we’ve opened submissions to over 1,000 participants. As such the brief is different to that of previous editions.
___ This year’s submissions will not be related to a specific date. Instead, each participant has been assigned a number from 1–31 alongside a randomly allocated ‘seed’ word.
___ We would like you to interpret the number that has been allocated to you, taking inspiration from the ‘seed’ also sent to you in the body of the email that accompanied this PDF. For example, if you receive the number 7 and the seed word ‘flower’ you might interpret your design as a floral number 7. The seed word must NOT appear in your design, it is given purely for creative inspiration.
___ All designs will be selected at random using variable data software and allocated to a relevant date. As a result, every copy will be entirely unique, with no two copies the same. Our algorithm will evenly distribute each design across the entire collection of calendars.
___ Fedrigoni 365 2021 will be printed digitally on the Ricoh digital five colour Pro C7200 to Freelife Vellum Premium White 120g/m2.

CHARITY
Previous editions of the publication have put the spotlight on select stocks from Fedrigoni’s vast range of papers, from an entirely black book in 2018 to an entirely white edition in 2019, followed by a recycled rainbow of colours in 2020. All profits from previous editions have been donated to charity, so far raising over £15,000.

Concept and product development created by FL@33 for the studio's sister-company – graphic art label and online boutique Stereohype.
___ Tapping into the great pool of our Stereohype button badge collection we developed an elegant and strikingly simple advent calendar idea.
___ The matchbox-style gift boxes we designed for Stereohype as part of its 15th anniversary last year have been developed further to create a brand-new product range. The largest matchbox-style gift box can house up to 25 1" (25mm) button badges and so we used this existing packaging solution to develop a beautiful concept for a themed advent calender.
___ These new advent calendars feature 24 (+1) themed and covered button badges carefully selected by FL@33 from the popular and now already 1,777-strong button badge collection with designs by over 650 hand-picked contributing talents from around the world.
___ Peel off the stickers to reveal the daily button badge design. The badges are pinned directly into the black flock pad inside. The first round of themes are Cats, Dogs, Abstract, Fun, Monsters and Yummy.
___ Outside the elegant packaging features a foil-blocked hand-printed Stereohype mascot squirrel in fancy rose-gold. The gift boxes look and feel sophisticated, are sustainable and made of matt black cardboard.

OTHER FL@33-DESIGNED PACKAGING SOLUTIONS | PAST AND PRESENT
Since 2004 FL@33 developed various other packaging solutions for the graphic art label. More recently Stereohype's sophisticated new matchbox-style (Artist / Themed) Gift Boxes: 3–5 button badges for example, replaced the sets of three or four swing tag packs used during the first 15 years of Stereohype for online orders.
___ Pick 'n' mix orders of individual badge designs will automatically be pinned into one of these matchbox-style gift boxes these days. Before that separetely ordered Stereohype button badges were stuck to postcards.
___ The smallest matchbox-style gift box is for 1–5 button badges. The medium size is used for button badge quantities from 6–12 while the largest gift box is used for larger orders and can hold up to 25 badges – as is the case with advent calendars for example.
___ Notably there were also vast amounts of themed sets of four that Habitat commissioned. These came in a custom packaging FL@33 developed for them.
___ We also curate and compile the larger and differently packaged Artist / Themed Gift Boxes: 7 button badges. These are gradually being updated to the new matchbox-style deluxe gift boxes. STEREOHYPE | OUTDOOR SQUIRREL SCULPTURE | #SaveTheStereohypeSquirrel
In the surreal summer of 2020 we self-isolated in rural France to relax, hide from the apocalyptic herds and work on some amazing new projects.
___ One of our projects was to save the good old squirrel sculpture that FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek designed and built for Stereohype's 10th anniversary exhibition back in 2014. Save the squirrel, save the world.
___ The polygon sculpture was originally built with cardboard and created for the duration of the 2-month-long exhibition. We did not have the heart however to destroy it after the show ended, and held onto the squirrel since. After numerous attempts to patch up the slowly collapsing scuplture it was a question of everything or nothing when we moved house and studio in the summer of 2020.
___ The idea was born at this occasion to save the squirrel by transforming it into a waterproof fibreglass epoxy resin outdoor sculpture. We shipped the cardboard version to France for a last attempt rescue mission. A fully collapsed carcass arrived eventually but layer by layer we managed to revive it again.
___ The experiment and first-time experience was successful and after about a month of hard work, enormous amounts of packing tape, fibreglass, epoxy resin, yet more mask-wearing and sandpaper, the squirrel was back to its former glory – this time in fluorescent technicolor.
___ In the end the Stereohype party squirrel found a beautiful new home in a protected forest in beautiful Ardèche. We hope to visit every now and then and will ensure the squirrel's continued well-being.

STEREOHYPE  | THE SQUIRREL HISTORY
Since FL@33's sister-company Stereohype was launched in 2004 we have created numerous squirrel mascot illustrations for the graphic art label and online boutique.
___ The squirrels have become part of Stereohype's ever-evolving visual identity and some of them featured on T-shirts, postcards, the online boutique, in exhibition catalogues and a cardboard sculpture.
___ Selected squirrel motifs are now also available for the first time as button badges and gift boxes. Some of them were also chosen to become part of the FL@33-curated Button Badge Motif Print edition while even larger squirrel prints are available in Stereohype's Graphic Art section.
___ Part of Stereohype's flexible identity system has always been a mascot squirrel. The fourth and latest incarnation of the squirrel is a low-polygon squirrel we designed with a sculpture for the 10th anniversary show in mind. Based on front and side view wire drawings we made as 2D vector graphics and commissioned a 3D designer who developed the 3D model with us, and generated a net layout in order for us to be able to build the squirrel sculpture ourselves. Resulting 3D renders were also used for animations and visuals for the exhibition campaign.
___ The challenge to build a huge real-life squirrel sculpture – 1.5m tall plus plinth – led us to experiment with styrene and plastic weld before abandoning failed attempts to successfully build the final sculpture using E-flute cardboard and mirror material.
___ If you would have told us then that we would be working for another month with epoxy resin one day to transform the sculpture into a boat-like waterproof outdoor sculpture – we would certainly not have believed you.

SQUIRREL UPDATES
In the summer of 2021 we returned, repainted the battered acorn, firmly reattached it and we also anchored the squirrel to the ground after it apparently wandered off in the harsh weather conditions of winter up there on the French Massif Central plateau. Did it work? We will have to wait and see for the next opportunity. A few pictures from 2021 were also added to this page. To be continued...

OFFICIAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fedrigoni 365, designed by TM for Fedrigoni UK, started three years ago as an unprecedented collaboration involving designers, illustrators and photographers from throughout the UK, gathered together by an open call for entries.
___ Now in its third year, the book has once again managed to pull together hundreds of creative masterminds – introducing 366 to mark 2020’s leap year.  Following from black and white renditions of the calendar, this edition delves into the exciting world of colour, through the environmentally-friendly range, Woodstock. This year’s calendar features a white tip-in for February 29, designed by Supermundane, blazoned with a shimmering holographic foil to commemorate the extra day.
___ The design brief is purposefully restrictive, inviting contributors to design in one colour and within a specific size. Nevertheless, we are always amazed by the plethora of gloriously different designs dreamed up by our diverse contributors. Interpretations range from numbers to historical figures, from photographs to vector graphics. No two submissions are the same. The result is a gloriously diverse tome. One that will keep you occupied for hours, leafing through the spectrum of colourful pages that make up this year’s Fedrigoni 366 Calendar.

CARBON BALANCED
As a range, Woodstock’s hues move through every colour of the spectrum. It delivers from a sustainability standpoint too. Woodstock is one of the most environmentally-friendly coloured ranges on the market, formed with 80% recycled and 20% FSC® certified virgin fibres. In addition to these inherent environmental credentials, the book has been Carbon Balanced. Additionally, as part of the process TM have minimised waste by planning the slip case, eight and four page covers plus other collateral from a single B1 sheet of paper.

SOUL BOY | TYPE TREATMENT FOR SPORTS MERCHANDISE BRAND
Soul Boy is the moniker of tennis coach and personal trainer Marvin Bramble in London, where he runs his fitness business Miragushi Tennis at Barbican's Golden Lane Sport and Fitness.
___ Soul Boy is a new merchandise brand FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek helped to develop – initially for a first round of promotional items such as button badges and T-shirts, but we already have plans for more.
___ Miragushi commissioned FL@33 to develop lettering solutions for the new Soul Boy brand. Thanks to FL@33's expertise and established network of trusted suppliers and partners – we also consult and help with logistics to produce sustainably sourced and manufactured items.
___ Soul Boy will not necessarily operate with a traditional logo but different typographic manifestations. Following Soul Boy's enthusiastic mantra, 'It's all about the soul – Soul Boy forever!', we created a wide range of typographic design contenders ranging from crisp digital typography solutions to handmade calligraphic brush and marker pen designs.
___ To get the ball rolling we started Soul Boy's first merchandise range in the summer of 2019 with the beautiful and dynamic type design shown here – developed in two different variants for very small and larger incarnations (the 'Boy' size varies compared to the Soul).

SOUL BOY | PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT | LAUNCH MERCH | PHASE 1
While initially focusing on the selected type solution, we then also developed colour variants and Soul Boy's first range has since been released. It included a huge batch of 1"/25mm button badge designs and carefully sourced organic cotton T-shirts that were locally screen-printed in London.

UPDATE | SOUL BOY | PHASE 2 | PUFF SCREEN-PRINTING AND EMBROIDERY
Soul Boy's latest addition was added in winter 2021 – long-sleeve sportswear featuring puff screen-print treatment on organic cotton sweatshirt and embroidery enhancements on sweatshirt sleeves and jogger.
___ This project page will continue to be updated further as more garments, accessories and appropriate branding techniques are being developed and explored.

These compositions are non-modified screenshots of people featured in news broadcasts that happened to have a video loading icon positioned directly on their face while videos are being buffered for streaming.

FEDRIGONI 365 | CALENDAR 2019 | DESIGN COMPENDIUM
Following Agathe and Tomi's contributions from 2017 to the 2018 edition of the 365 calendar project FL@33 was invited in summer 2018 by Italian paper company Fedrigoni to contribute again a visual interpretation of a randomly allocated day of the year (2019).
___ The resulting photographic visual by FL@33 now forms part of the calendar and design compendium Fedrigoni 365 (2019) and proceeds will be donated to charity.

FL@33 CONTRIBUTION
The number 6 for the date 6 November 2019 was interpreted by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek.
___ The project description as supplied with the artwork: 'An opportunity to celebrate different cultural backgrounds by presenting two different ways to show the number three using fingers. My trilingual three-year-old daughter shows the British sign with her left hand and the way most continental European countries do it by including a thumb. Her six fingers also form the FL@33 logo.' OFFICIAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fedrigoni 365, designed by TM for Fedrigoni UK, is an unprecedented collaboration involving 365 designers, illustrators and photographers from throughout the UK, gathered together by an open call for entries.
___ Each participant was asked to contribute a piece of work interpreting a date provided to them at random. Confines were established to challenge each designer’s creativity by restricting the book to one colour print, which forced their pieces to focus strictly on concept, shape and form. Through these parameters the Calendar has shaped into a beautiful visual story whose pace varies from page to page, and spread to spread.
___ For the 2019 edition each design was printed to one of ten white sheets from Fedrigoni’s expansive collection of papers. The resulting book has a mille-feuille-like layering, from the blueish hues of X-Per Premium White to the warm tones of Materica Gesso and Old Mill Bianco. Each date has a spread of its own, giving the designs space to breathe, and the book itself an imposing size. The resulting white tome is part numeral muse, part source of historic facts and part thing of beauty.

CHARITY
500 copies of the book will be sold with profits going to Shelter – a charity to help the homeless.

2016 – ONGOING
FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek developed this print edition idea for graphic art label and online boutique Stereohype – the studio's sister-company. The new series Tomi curates is called Button Badge Motif Prints. 
___ The super-vibrant Fine Art Giclée Prints feature selected designs from Stereohype's ever-growing one inch (25mm) button badge collection. High resolution files of the circular artworks are enlarged to seven inch (178mm) and printed with love and vivid archival inks on a beautifully textured 310gsm Hahnemühle paper (portrait, 8x10" / 203x254mm).
___ The print series already includes over 500 designs and will steadily grow to be as eclectic as Stereohype's widely-acclaimed button badge collection that features over 1,700 artworks by over 650 established and emerging illustrators, graphic designers, typographers, photographers and artists from around the world.
___ Some of Stereohype's button badge motifs are clearly better suited to be enlarged and featured on a print than others, but many hundreds of designs will make amazing print motifs. More prints will regularly be added to this new Stereohype range. Each print comes with the according button badge.
___ We are continuing to curate this ongoing series and will be selecting approximately 100 more motifs per year. One by one we will contact more selected artists in our network of collaborators. BUTTON BADGE MOTIF PRINTS | IDENTITY | EMBOSSED CERTIFICATION SEAL
As part of developing the concept for Button Badge Motif Prints, FL@33 also created a logo for the series that is used to enhance each print with an embossed Stereohype certification seal. This logo is also the first step in establishing an identity for this likely to become very comprehensive collection of prints.
___ The certification seal shows the life-sized back of a classic one inch (25mm) button badge – a so-called D-pin button badge to be precise. This is the kind of highest quality button badge Stereohype uses for its collection.

Button Badge Motif Prints were officially launched in December 2016 and the edition has since been growing to feature over 500 designs. The selection of motifs by Stereohype's international collaborators also includes many designs by FL@33-founders Agathe Jacquillat and Tomi Vollauschek such as Parasol Mushroom, Jolly Good Expressions, Agathe's Leaves, Sweets and Car Wash prints and Tomi's Optimist Series, System Error – rebooted, Bipyramids, Glitch, Broken Beauty, Resist and 45rpm Adaptors artworks from B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Button Badge Series 20. A few selected FL@33-designed Stereohype Mascot Squirrels have also been released as Fine Art Prints.

Packaging solution designed by FL@33. These gift boxes contain seven of Stereohype's popular 1″ (25mm) button badges. Badges were selected from a growing collection of over 1,700 individual FL@33-curated designs, created by over 600 international graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and artists.

FIRST GIFT BOX: 7 BUTTON BADGES | 2009–2021
After almost twelve years of serving us well, these long luxury gift boxes will slowly be retired. Stereohype still has quite a lot of them in stock but they will all gradually be replaced with the new FL@33-designed matchbox-style gift boxes. For sets of seven 1" button badges the medium-sized gift box is used since November 2021. It can contain 6–12 button badges and the first Artist Gift Boxes: 12 button badges have now also been introduced to make full use of the new generation of deluxe gift boxes.
___ Beside developing Stereohype's various packaging solutions, FL@33 also regularly compiles the sets for these elegant matt black Themed Gift Boxes: 7 button badges. The FL@33-curated sets feature seven button badges by various other creators. The badges are directly pinned into a black flock pad.

Stereohype.com was launched in October 2004 as an international platform for both emerging and established talents and is a T-shirt and button badge label with online boutique based in London.
___ FL@33 created Stereohype's logo and its playful, versatile and ever-evolving visual identity in combination with its different mascot squirrels. The flexible identity has been applied across designs for Stereohype's clothing range, postcards and posters, stickers, embroidered labels, custom shoelaces, multi-purpose swing tags, button badges, various packaging solutions, T-shirt hangers, stationery, exhibitions, giant party squirrel sculptures and the redesigned online boutique (v.2) – relaunched in 2015.
___ Elements of this identity kit even made it onto a FL@33-designed front cover of magazine Novum – World Of Graphic Design that featured our studio and elements even made it onto Tomi's screen-printed custom wedding jacket.

STEREOHYPE | VISUAL IDENTITY | THE SQUIRREL STORY CONTINOUS
With a new polygon wireframe 3D mascot squirrel at its centre the current visual identity gradually became more monochromatic in the years 2015–2019 when the first of a new generation of gift boxes were added to the overall more sophicated appearance.

___ This page here shows the roots and more playful beginnings when we were still looking for a voice for Stereohype. It was essential for Stereohype's reputation and business development and helped catapult the graphic art label into the wider design world.

FL@33 created a mascot squirrel for Stereohype and many different incarnations have been included to Stereohype's visual identity and product range over the years. FL@33 was invited in summer 2017 by Italian paper company Fedrigoni to contribute two visual interpretations of two randomly allocated days of the year 2018.
___ Our two typographic illustrations now form part of the calendar and design compendium Fedrigoni 365 (2018) and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
___ The two numbers / dates we were given are 13 (September 2018) and 1 (November 2018). FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek experimented with the number 13 (XIII) by creating a collage using envelope patterns from his large collection.
___ FL@33's Agathe Jacquillat was in rural France at the time and took the opportunity to create a piece away from her computer. She searched nature for organic occurances of the number 1. A picture of her selected number made of dried moss on lawn was selected for submission.

OFFICIAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fedrigoni 365 is a project to commemorate the year 2018 by asking leading UK-based creatives to contribute a piece of work to a design compendium, which takes the form of the Fedrigoni annual Calendar.
___ The result of this process is a striking black tome that holds 365 single-colour designs within. Each design was created as an interpretation of a date that was provided at random to each participant. Confines were established to challenge each designer’s creativity by restricting the book to one paper and one colour print, which forced their pieces to focus strictly on concept, shape and form.
___ The brief was created to be deliberately restrictive, although there were slight concerns that it may be too limiting and could result in designs that were much of a muchness. It turned out that these worries were unfounded. The Calendar has organically shaped into a beautiful visual story whose pace varies from page to page, and spread to spread.
___ All proceeds went directly to the Make-A-Wish charity.

CUSTOM EMOJI | MIND BLOWN
Asked by long-time collaborator Gavin Lucas, 'If you could create a new emoji, what would it be?', FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek developed a custom emoji that was included in Gavin's book The Story of Emoji that FL@33 also designed (Prestel, March 2016).
___ The emoji – now known as Exploding Head – was eventually approved as part of Unicode 10.0 in 2017 under the name “Shocked Face with Exploding Head” and added to Emoji 5.0 in 2017. We all have it on our smart phones these days.
___ A total of 33 custom emoji by 23 designers and illustrators are featured in the book's chapter 'Designer Characters'.
___ We posted some variation studies, sketches and roughs here, too, for your viewing pleasure, and also some preview sample spreads on the book's project page.

___ London-based design studio FL@33 created a custom Mind Blown emoji but also the book and cover design of The Story of Emoji by Gavin Lucas that was published worldwide in 2016 by Prestel.

THE STORY OF EMOJI | COVER AND BOOK DESIGN
Munich-based Prestel Verlag commissioned FL@33 to design the book and cover of The Story of Emoji written and compiled by long-time FL@33-collaborator Gavin Lucas.
___ The book is the first collaboration between FL@33 and Prestel Verlag who also have offices in London and New York and who are part of Verlagsgruppe Random House. And what a great fun project to start with... 8)
___ The cover features our illustration of the 'Smiling Face With Open Mouth' emoji and was created using a variety of different Apple iOS emojis. As these pictures of our advance copy show, the cover was printed using relief varnish to enhance each individual emoji.
___ Designed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek we posted a few of the book's sample spreads and also show Tomi's FL@33 custom emoji Mind Blown that we were invited to create by Gavin as part of a series of designer emojis he showcases in his book The Story of Emoji.

BRIEF | CREATE UPPERCASE LETTER 'V'
FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek was commissioned to create a custom letterform 'V' for 26 Creative Characters – an exhibition celebrating the typographical diversity of contemporary graphic design and the 10th anniversary of Utrecht-based design studio Autobahn. Autobahn's Maarten Dullemeijer and Rob Stolte invited a total of 26 international typographic designers to create a selected letter of the alphabet. The resulting alphabet is displayed during their curated anniversary show 26 Creative Characters.
___ The brief asked to create the chosen letterform and present it as a poster with the dimensions of 30 x 40cm (11.81 x 15.75in), portrait, and in monochrome Bordeaux (Pantone 484C). Invited designers were also encouraged to break any of these rules if needed.

FL@33'S CUSTOM LETTERFORM 'V' | AUTOBAHN TYPEFACE
Following numerous experiments going in different directions the temptation to turn the original Autobahn symbol on its head to create a minimal letter V proved too strong for FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek. Concerned this witty design could possibly be considered to be slightly lazy – but also for the sheer fun of it – Tomi created in addition a complete alphabet at this ocassion using only the five elements the Autobahn symbol is made of.
___ Using the original street sign Blue helps to communicate the simplicity of the idea but it also works in Bordeaux.

___ It was designed by FL@33 and programmed by our trusted friends at Huck und Fresow.
___ You can now explore the entire range of Stereohype by making use of new product categories, tags, search filters and the responsive, generous and easy-to-browse layout. Quickly find what you are looking for or let Stereohype surprise and inspire you with the ever-growing collection.

WHAT’S NEW – AN IN-DEPTH OVERVIEW
FL@33 launched the graphic art label and online boutique Stereohype in 2004. This first Stereohype website was designed with very different criteria in mind compared to what we did have to consider for the new incarnation.

OLD AND NEW COMPARED
The old online boutique did us a great service for over a decade – but shortcomings became increasingly apparent as hundreds of products were added over the years. Patching up the website just did not solve the issues anymore towards the end.
___ Nowadays Stereohype’s expanding range already includes over 1,700 button badges by over 650 contributors, themed button badge gift boxes, books and mags and T-shirts and last but not least the freshly extended graphic art section that now also includes posters, fine art prints, photographic prints and original artworks.
___ The old 2004 version 1 (or rather 1.9999999999) was designed with only a couple of hundred products in mind. Without taking different formats and T-shirt sizes into consideration we have today over 2,700 products as our fresh new counter indicates on the homepage (figures were updated here in the meantime).

10th ANNIVERSARY
The new website v.2 was initially meant to be ready for Stereohype’s 10th anniversary celebrations in autumn 2014 – and in time for our major retrospective Stereohype 2004–2014 exhibition in London. The design process however ended up teasing us to go the extra mile – which unsurprisingly took a few extra months. We are very relieved to have added our entire wish list to the new online boutique to make browsing – and buying – our products a swift, easy and pleasant experience.

ADDED FUNCTIONALITY
On computer screens you can now very quickly fill your basket using the custom-designed 'add to basket' icon under each product (on rollover). Sounds basic but we did not have this before. This new speedy option is especially practical for the currently already 1,000-strong button badge collection.
___ On touch screen devices one has to click twice (as the rollover function does of course not exist for these devices) but we still wanted to offer the alternative, in-depth info page there, too.
___ For touch screen devices the website was optimised at the time for the latest iOS on iPad and iPhone. We will of course continue to monitor future compatibility.
___ All pictures were prepared in higher resolution to allow the badges to look as crisp as possible – even on retina screens.
___ A new zoom function allows to have a closer look at products – especially those cute little mini canvases that are our badges.
___ The 'Button badge of the day' (#BBOTD) feature that was introduced many years ago on social media channels is now an automated feature at stereohype.com’s homepage. Every day a random badge is being showcased and its price reduced by a third – but only until the next badge is being showcased.
___ The grid-based, responsive layout allows for as many products to be shown as the browser window allows – a game changer compared to the old website.
___ The two most important additions however are the 'search by' 'filters' – covering colours, themes and especially artist names – an extremely useful tool considering that Stereohype has over 600 contributors (and hundreds more if you count all the involved individuals from studios and collectives).

TWO WEBSITES IN ONE | WHOLESALE
The other crucial functionality we added allows the website to also be a wholesale platform for registered Stereohype stockists and contributors – where prices change according to selected quantities. A simple CMS checkbox in the background transforms the status of registered users to be allowed to order wholesale. Finally they are now also able to enjoy the swift online shopping experience for their bulk orders.

DESIGN
The illustrative and more colourful design elements of the previous website design – with all it's spray paint splashes, rainbow-coloured logo rollover and pink buttons and headlines – were all replaced with a toned-down and altogether more minimal visual language.
___ This is to allow the colourful products to shine more as the interface appears less dominant. Pastel-tones are used for product shots other than button badges whenever necessary. The main injection of bright colours used as part of the interface are currently a bright yellow that appears for rollovers and a nice deep blue for the 'Sale' icons. A subtle gold colour is used for 'New' icons.
___ Stereohype's maskot – the squirrel – found its rightful place in its current incarnation, too. The low-polygon squirrel sculpture from the exhibition and the book cover is shown on the website as a wire-frame animation loading gif.
___ Aperçu by Colophon Foundry is the new Stereohype house font. We introduced it with the anniversary book Stereohype 2004–2014, postcards and the signage for the retrospective exhibition of the same name in autumn 2014.

FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS
It's a worthy website relaunch that was overdue for Stereohype’s beautiful collection of graphic art gems and we are very happy to be able to share it with the world at last.
___ Fine-tuning and improvements will of course continue in the background and constructive criticism or flattering feedback is as always very much appreciated.

The fourth FL@33 / Stereohype postcard set includes FL@33 postcard #8 featuring party balloons by FL@33's Agathe Jacquillat – one of the ten specially commissioned limited edition 10×10-themed anniversary posters for Stereohype's 10th birthday celebrations.
___ Another card shows a picture of some of Stereohype's button badges – a collection that reached the magical number of 1,000 designs at the time.
___ The 3D-rendered polygon Party Squirrel created by FL@33 for the graphic art label's 10th birthday also features on the cover of the anniversary book with same name as the exhibition: Stereohype 2004–2014.
___ Last but not least we reprinted bzzzpeek.com homepage motif postcard but with an updated text – making sure our participation in a group exhibition in New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) gets a mention.
___The postcards were printed in September 2014 on uncoated 100% post consumer waste and in a limited edition of 1,000 (bzzzpeek and balloons) and 2,000 respectively (badges and squirrel).
___ Assorted postcards such as the ones shown here are added for free to Stereohype orders and are being given away at trade shows, conferences and exhibitions, etc.

There are quite a few interesting ways to display Stereohype's whole 1,000-strong collection of tiny one inch (25mm) button badges in a big gallery space and by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek developed the most appropriate ones for Stereohype's 10th anniversary exhibition – including showing them all next to each other in a giant 30m-long line along the entire gallery walls.
___ To complement this – every single one of the 1,000 button badges were also displayed in a super-compressed, bespoke FL@33-designed perspex frame (one square metre) showcasing the collection at one glance.
___ The video loop of over 10 minutes shown here was displayed during the exhibition. It was created for the gallery environment and with an exhibition audience in mind. It features a few sequences of Stereohype's current squirrel incarnation – a low-polygon 3D design shown here – rendered with surface and as wire-frame. In addition this video also shows two sequences of Stereohype's first 1,000 button badges – one slower and one very fast one.
___ The FL@33-curated and designed  exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 also involved developing various other exhibits including commissioning the 10×10 Poster / Badge Anniversary Series, designing the anniversary book Stereohype 2004–2014, compiling B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Series 14 and designing and building a huge squirrel sculpture.
___ The Stereohype 2004–2014 show opened its gates in September 2014 during London Design Festival and as part of '160' – a series of exhibitions all hosted by the London College of Communication (LCC). The exhibition was initially running for seven weeks and was then extended for an eighth week due to poplular demand – closing in November.

Agathe Jacquillat and Tomi Vollauschek of multi-disciplinary design studio founded Stereohype in October 2004 – not just as an experimental playground for the London-based creative duo, but as an international platform for both emerging and established talents alike.

There are quite a few interesting ways to display Stereohype's whole 1,000-strong collection of tiny one inch (25mm) button badges in a big gallery space and FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek developed the most appropriate ones for Stereohype's 10th anniversary exhibition – including showing them all next to each other in a giant 30m-long line along the entire gallery walls.
___ To complement this – every single one of the 1,000 button badges were also displayed in a super-compressed, bespoke FL@33-designed perspex frame (one square metre) showcasing the collection at one glance.
___ The FL@33-curated and designed  exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 also involved developing various other exhibits including commissioning the 10×10 Poster / Badge Anniversary Series, designing the anniversary book Stereohype 2004–2014, compiling B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Series 14 and designing and building a huge squirrel sculpture.
___ The Stereohype 2004–2014 show opened its gates in September 2014 during London Design Festival and as part of '160' – a series of exhibitions all hosted by the London College of Communication (LCC). The exhibition was initially running for seven weeks and was then extended for an eighth week due to poplular demand – closing in November.

The exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 curated and designed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek also involved developing various different exhibits including commissioning the 10×10 Poster / Badge Anniversary Series, designing the anniversary book Stereohype 2004–2014, compiling B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Series 14 and creating a custom perspex frame showcasing Stereohype's whole 1,000-strong button badge collection.
___ Looking back at the first ten years of FL@33's sister-company Stereohype we naturally also reflected, set new targets and made plans for the future. This involved taking the FL@33-designed, ever-evolving visual identity and start developing it further at this occasion.
___ Part of Stereohype's flexible identity system has always been a mascot squirrel. The fourth and latest incarnation of the squirrel is a low-polygon squirrel we designed with a sculpture for the show in mind. Based on front and side view wire drawings we made as 2D vector graphics we commissioned a 3D designer who developed the 3D model with us and generated a net layout in order for us to be able to build the squirrel sculpture ourselves. Resulting 3D renders were also used for animations and visuals for the exhibition campaign.
___ The challenge to build a huge real-life squirrel sculpture – 1.5m tall plus plinth – led us to experiment with styrene and plastic weld before abandoning failed attempts to successfully build the final sculpture using E-flute cardboard and mirror material.
___ Ten helium balloons were the finishing touch for Stereohype's party squirrel that was placed in the middle of the gallery space for it to be still visible from outside the exhibition space to draw visitors into the corridor leading to the gallery. The sculpture was added to the show in time for the private view.

As part of the exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 designed and curated by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek, he also conceived and art directed an anniversary poster series and commissioned international designers, studios, artists and illustrators. They became part of the show's 10×10 Poster / Badge Anniversary Series – consisting of 10 posters inspired by the numbers 10 and/or 1,000 and/or 10×10. The posters come with its corresponding one inch / 25mm button badge that either mirror or compliment the according poster design.

Professor Lawrence Zeegen, then Dean of London College of Communication's School of Design kindly invited us to celebrate the 10th anniversary of FL@33's sister-company Stereohype with a massive exhibition in LCC's Lower Street Gallery.
___ After a summer of hectic and thorough preparations the FL@33-designed and curated exhibition Stereohype 2004–2014 opened its gates in September 2014 during London Design Festival and as part of '160' – a series of exhibitions all hosted by the LCC.
____ FL@33 developed numerous appropriate ways to display the whole 1,000-strong collection of Stereohype's fascinating tiny one inch (25mm) button badges in a large gallery space. A giant 30m-long line showing all the button badges next to each other along the entire gallery walls. To complement this – every single one of the 1,000 button badges were also displayed in a super-compressed, bespoke FL@33-designed perspex frame (one square metre) showcasing the collection at one glance.
___ A beautiful anniversary book simply entitled Stereohype 2004–2014 was also published at this occasion. Additionally animations were created showing the 1,000 badges flickering over the gallery's screen.
___ Apart from curating B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) Series 14 in time for the show we also specially commissioned 10 contributions for 10×10 Poster / Badge Anniversary Series and took on the challenge to create another exhibit: a huge low-polygon squirrel sculpture (a new incarnation of Stereohype's mascot) presented in the centre of the gallery space – 1.5m high plus plinth – designed as part of Stereohype's ever-evolving visual identity.

Lucienne Roberts and Rebecca Wright of pioneering publishing house GraphicDesign& kindly invited FL@33 to contribute to the second publication in their 'Graphic Design and ...' series – namely GD&'s Mathematics – Golden Meaning.

___ Published rationale, Tomi Vollauschek, FL@33: My design combines three different explorations of the golden ratio placed on top of one another, to create an intricate graphic piece that shows the versatility and wonder of the golden mean.
___ The golden ratio is expressed as 1 : 1.618… However, this is an irrational number as it runs to an infinite number of decimal places. The background to my design includes the golden ratio decimal number to 10,000 decimal places.
___ The proportions of a single page of this book make it a golden rectangle. My design compares three different approaches to page layout and grid structures in book design. Each rectangle represents a block of text positioned on a golden section page. The inner rectangle on the left-hand page shows designer Jan Tschichold’s ‘golden canon of page construction’. The inner rectangle on the right-hand page shows the van de Graaf canon, originated by Dutch book design scholar, JA van de Graaf. Both are placed within a further rectangle, mirrored from left- to right-hand page. These two show the position of the text area often used in medieval books. One of the interesting aspects of the golden rectangle is that it can be drawn purely geometrically, without using measurements. The positions of the text areas shown are all arrived at geometrically and the various intersections included in my design highlight how they interrelate. According to the designers cited, these proportions produce some of the most harmonious page layouts possible.
___ If you are drawing a golden rectangle geometrically, you start by drawing a right angle and an arc to arrive at a square. I have used these forms to create a spiral on each of my pages that approximates the golden spiral. Alongside this, the circular elements in my design use a Fibonacci spiral multiplied and rotated using the golden angle of 137.5°. It has been rotated 144 times at this angle because it is only after this point that the original spiral is repeated. Unsurprisingly, 144 is a Fibonacci number.

STEREOHYPE | AFOMFS PACKAGING SHOELACE
FL@33's sister-company Stereohype – London-based online boutique, T-shirt and button badge label – teamed up with long-time collaborator Nathan Gale of Intercity and his brilliant Art & Sole blog.
___ Nathan has been curating a beautiful print series called AFOMFS (A Few Of My Favourite Sneakers) inviting talents from around the world to submit their sneaker artworks. A selection of 48 of these trainer artworks created by 18 sneaker-loving illustrators and artists have now been produced and released by Stereohype as classic 1" (25mm) button badges.
___ FL@33 developed numerous button badge packaging solutions since launching Stereohype in 2004 including themed badge sets, swing tag solutions and luxury gift boxes – but attaching button badges to a custom shoelace is a first for us. While stock lasts all AFOMFS orders come with the custom shoelace. Badges are available separately, as sets of 3 or 4 and also as complete AFOMFS series. The limited edition shoelace features a repeat pattern of the Stereohype and Art & Sole logos and AFOMFS.

The Royal College of Art's (RCA) MA Curating Contemporary Art (CCA) course commissioned FL@33 to create an exhibition identity system, a dedicated website and an exhibition catalogue for their show No one lives here. FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek worked very closely with the course's 14 final year students who curated the exhibition together. No one lives here opened its doors at London's prestigious RCA and ran for over two weeks.
___ The exhibition catalogue presents all 10 No one lives here artists and showcases their work, features their biographies and also contains essays about the exhibition's subject matter.
___ The 'tagging' system was applied here that was developed as part of the show's identity system. It was used to link 'plates' (full-colour visuals) with texts found in a different part of this publication.
___ The publication is printed mostly in one colour – black – but features ten full colour pages and a cover printed in Pantone 317 and black.
___ The catalogue comes with a bookmark that features the identity key. It helps to navigate the publication itself but also links texts with exhibits and vice versa.

RCA | CCA | NO ONE LIVES HERE | EXHIBITION IDENTITY SYSTEM
The Royal College of Art's (RCA) MA Curating Contemporary Art (CCA) course commissioned FL@33 to create an exhibition identity system, a dedicated website and an exhibition catalogue for their show No one lives here. We worked very closely with the course's 14 final year students who curated the exhibition together. No one lives here opened its doors at London's prestigious RCA and ran for over two weeks.
___ We developed an identity system that was applied across the entire exhibition – from signage to a tagging systems used in the exhibition catalogue and the website. It is playful and versatile although very systematically engineered.
___ The identity design is based on a three-dimensional hexagonal grid. Each depicted 3D hexagon reveals 10 triangles and each triangle represents one of the 10 artists featured in No one lives here.
___ The show is divided into five themes or 'tags' – Truth, Space, Data Politics, Narrative and Object – and these 5 themes are also represented by a shape within the depicted 3D hexagon.
___ As each of the 10 artists is linked to two of these 'tags' we combined these shapes with the artists' individual triangles – to create individual symbols that form the key ingredients for the exhibition identity.
___ The hexagonal symbols appear as individual tags next to the artists' names or form hexagon clusters – with all ten together symbolising the physical part of the exhibition. These clusters were also used in a more abstract way as seen on the catalogue cover and often the hexagonal symbols were then also cropped to suggest the evolving and sprawling nature of the show's subject matter.
___ For print and vinyl signage Futura Maxi (Futura PL / Fute) Demi was selected as the primary typeface combined with Futura Maxi Book. Online the non-existing Maxi webfont weights were replaced with Futura Heavy and Book.

PATTERNS | MINI EDITION COVER
London-based Laurence King republished the best-selling, FL@33-designed book Patterns – New Surface Design by Drusilla Cole as an English mini edition (80% of original size).
___ FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek redesigned the cover to fit the new format and – as so often with book covers – went through a series of colourways and possible finishes before deciding on an elegant and fresh turquoise / gold-foil variant. We were aiming to achieve a similar impact with the new cover compared to its original (even more expensive) yellow / cyan cover that also had flaps and featured a spot UV finish and black flock combination.
___ Seen here is a picture of a final copy and untrimmed test proofs showing some of the shortlisted colourways.

RCA SECRET POSTCARDS 2011
The six contributions included three pictures from ongoing FL@33's ongoing #Sky And Other Lines photo series and another three selected FL@33 photographs taken in France in the summer of the same year.

STEREOHYPE / HABITAT SETS (ROUND 2)
FL@33 and it's sister company Stereohype, graphic art label / online boutique, partnered up with Habitat to develop and manufacture a series of themed button badge sets of four to be sold in Habitat stores across France, Germany, Spain and also the three London flagship stores of Habitat UK – later part of parent company Sainsbury’s Argos.

PACKAGING
A packaging was developed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek in close collaboration with Habitat and after all required lab-tests and procedures were finalised – the first five badge sets were produced at the time as a test-run. FL@33 improved the packaging further the following year for another – even larger order for the 'round 2' sets.
___ Sets were compiled by the FL@33 / Stereohype team and selected from our growing collection of button badges created for Stereohype by emerging and established artists and designers from around the world. Since 2004 the entire collection has already grown to over 1,700 individual button badge designs.
___ Shown here are pictures of the final badge sets but also a few packaging details and samples.

PRODUCTION AND ROYALTIES
The selected Habitat badge sets (round 2) were produced in China – the second time in Stereohype's history – as quantities were simply too high for our usual manufacturing processes in the United Kingdom.
___ Once again we were in a position to offer royalties to the selected designers – a real pleasure as this was something we always had in mind but knew it would only become possible when truly large quantities of one particular design would be sold.
___ The high-quality badge sets 2011/12 hit national and international Habitat stores in September / October 2011.

PENRHYN BOOKS | PROMO CARD
Penrhyn Books was officially founded in 2010 by historian, publisher and author David Leedham. The independent publisher is based in Chester, United Kingdom, and publications are available via Penrhyn Books' website and a growing list of selected stockists.

COMPLETE PACKAGE
FL@33 was commissioned in 2009 by Penrhyn Books to design and typeset five books including their covers. The five publications form a book series entitled The Bitter Sea covering British history during the period of the Roman empire.
___ FL@33 also developed the identity for Penrhyn Books including a logo, stationery – with bookmark / business card combinations, letterheads, address label stickers, a promo card and Penrhyn Books' website with integrated online shop.
___ The books were released one at a time throughout 2010 and 2011 with the first publication being released in September 2010, followed by the official website launch. The last book to complete The Bitter Sea series was published in May 2011.

___ This hugely popular, award-winning and self-initiated FL@33 project is presenting a collection of onomatopoeia from around the world using sound recordings from native speakers imitating the sounds of mainly animals and vehicles. The online collection focuses on the pronunciation and comparison of these sounds by presenting them side by side as each language expresses them differently.
___ Bzzzpeek.com is an interactive experience inviting everybody to contribute. Submissions are more than welcome!

UPDATE
A new non-Flash html5 version is being developed and will hopefully be launched one day.

___ The required Flash plugin was officially retired in January 2021. Unless you are still running an older browser with enabled Flash, you will currently not be able to enjoy the live website with up-to-date software. Bzzzpeek.com requires the now pretty much defunkt Flash plugin, that used to be the bee's knees when we created this online experience in 2001/2002.
___ The website got so much recognition over the years and so many awards and countless press features around the world and we are now – at last – put a decent budget and time aside to transform and redevelop Bzzzpeek to shine once more. Kikeriki, cocorico, cock-a-doodle-doo!

BZZZPEEK'S NAME
The name Bzzzpeek stems from the recording of the French child – also featured on the website's homepage – who immitated the buzzing sound of a French bee followed by the 'peeeeek' – a sting (from the French verb piquer = to sting).

BZZZPEEK'S HISTORY
Bzzzpeek.com was launched in September 2002 and has since been featured around the world in countless books, magazines, newspapers and online. High profile features also included The New York Times and NYT supplements in other international newspapers followed by FL@33 radio interviews with NPR – National Public Radio and the BBC World (Boston).
___ Unique visitor counts to this online project have naturally been peaking during those busy times and Bzzzpeek's record so far were months when we enjoyed attention by up to 15,000 unique visitors per day.
___ The project has won many international awards including an Honorary Mention at the prestigious Prix Ars Electronica, a Distinctive Merit Award from the ADC – Art Directors Club, New York and Gold at the Construction New Media Awards, besides many others.

BZZZPEEK AT MoMA | REVISED DESIGN 2011
Bzzzpeek.com was selected for inclusion in an exhibition entitled Talk to Me at New York's MoMA – Museum of Modern Art where bzzzpeek's interface was on display from July 24th until November 7th, 2011. Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects was organised by senior curator Paola Antonelli and curatorial assistant Kate Carmody. The website's design was improved in 2011 for this occasion.

Bzzzpeek currently still requires the Flash plugin but we are already scratching our heads to find an iPhone/iPad-friendly non-Flash alternative that will not only revive but improve the website...

Having been conceived and designed during the Flash goldrush days, things have of course moved on since. We are hoping to rescue the website one day and make transform it it into an html 5 (or so) version that will be compatible with today's browsers and portable touchscreen devices.
___ For now you can enjoy the website with an older pre-2021 browser using a free Flash-plugin that is required. iPads and iPhones do not support Flash at all unfortunately but you can make it work on Apple Mac and PC desktop browsers (pre-January 2021).

___ The artwork was created for the launch exhibition of the book with the same name GB: Graphic Britain (Laurence King, 2002). The exhibition took place in the former gallery space of Magma in London, Clerkenwell.

STEREOHYPE / HABITAT SETS (ROUND ONE)
FL@33 and it's sister company Stereohype, graphic art label / online boutique, partnered up with Habitat to develop and manufacture a series of themed button badge sets of four to be sold in Habitat stores across France, Germany, Spain and also the three London flagship stores of Habitat UK – later part of parent company Sainsbury’s Argos.

PACKAGING
A packaging was developed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek in close collaboration with Habitat and after all required lab-tests and procedures were finalised – the first five badge sets were produced at the time as a test-run. FL@33 improved the packaging further the following year for another – even larger order.
___ Sets were compiled by the FL@33 / Stereohype team and selected from our growing collection of button badges created for Stereohype by emerging and established artists and designers from around the world. Since 2004 the entire collection has already grown to over 1,700 individual button badge designs.
___ Shown here are pictures of the final badge sets but also a few snapshots of sketches, packaging details and first samples from China.

PRODUCTION AND ROYALTIES
The selected Habitat badge sets were produced in China – the first time in Stereohype's history – as quantities were simply too high for our usual manufacturing processes in the United Kingdom.
___ For the very first time we were in a position to offer royalties to the selected designers – a real pleasure as this was something we always had in mind but knew it would only become possible when truly large quantities of one particular design would be sold.
___ The first five high-quality badge sets hit all Habitat stores in September 2010.

RCA SECRET POSTCARDS 2010
These three especially designed contributions were handmade paper compositions created using a selection of the international envelope patterns from FL@33's substantial collection.

RUBBER BAND BALL ALPHABET
The British postal service hands out vast numbers of rubber bands every day. We almost always receive our mail wrapped in at least one rubber band, and used to throw most of them away until we discovered rubber band balls.
___ Made – you guessed it – from 100 per cent rubber bands, they grow as you add on new rubber bands. We have five or six rubber-band balls here in the studio, ranging from one 9cm (3 1⁄2in) in diameter to little one-week-old ones just 1.5cm (1⁄2in) in diameter. Using the largest one we had, we took on the challenge of creating an alphabet, restricting ourselves to using a maximum of three green rubber bands to be added to the red ball.

FL@33 LOGO CAKE
This FL@33 logo cake was created using 3 eggs, 150 g (5oz) flour (the same weight as 3 eggs without shells), 150 g (5oz) sugar, 150 g (5oz) butter. Mixed and then baked in a pre-heated oven at 180ºC (350ºF) for 33 minutes.
___ Pictures of the cake are featured in FL@33's third book The 3D Type Book (published by Laurence King Publishing in 2011 – the year FL@33 celebrated its 10th Anniversary).

The Penrhyn Books stationery so far consists of letterheads and a set of five different bookmarks that can be cut to business card size – simply by cutting along a printed dotted line.
___ We also designed label stickers and – as a little extra – prepared a pdf for the client with embedded fonts and layout in place so that address labels can be printed with the client's office laser printer using the editable pdf to enter their customers' addresses.

LOGO | ADDITIONAL INFO
Shown here is the logo in both versions – the main logo – a monogram consisting of a 'P' and 'B' and also an alternative logo version. The monogram has to be aligned with the correct distance from the left edge of letterheads, business cards, stickers and the like in order for the 'P' to 'appear' and become legible. The alternative logo featuring the vertical Penrhyn Books  along the left side of the logo's 'P' is only used when positioning along a left edge is not possible. The negative space of the letter 'P' represents the missing pieces history attempts to interpret and also complete – similar to a puzzle.

3D TYPE VISUALS | ABC DIMENSIONAL
This visuals were created for the open call for entries we launched in 2009 in addition to personal invitations sent to potential contributors to FL@33's third book – then still provisionally called ABCDimensional.
___ A survey was conducted with all 250+ firms and individuals who submitted work at the time together with the required Q&A. The questionnaire also asked for potential book title alternatives.
___ In the end the book was called The 3D Type Book published worldwide by Laurence King Publishing in 2011 – almost two years after starting the book.

RCA SECRET POSTCARDS 2009
These typographic paper compositions were part of Profile Typeface – a self-initiated experiment to explore legibility of three-dimensional letters seen only from the side, top or bottom respectively. Helvetica Neue Bold was used. By overlapping the three final die-cut postcards the secret word can be more easily deciphered. Two postcards show the letters seen from the left or the right respectively – while the third postcard shows the letters from the top and bottom. Fascinatingly – the word is almost legible when both – the left and the right – sides of the letters are shown next to each other.
___ The project was inspired by Ji Lee's brilliant Univers Revolved project that later also featured in FL@33's The 3D Type Book (Laurence King Publishing, 2011).

CULT STREETWEAR | BOOK DESIGN
Cult Streetwear by Josh Sims is the sixth book FL@33 designed for London-based publisher Laurence King.
___ First published in March 2010 we started designing Cult Streetwear back in 2008 and it was finished in 2009. The book features pioneering streetwear brands since the late 1980s and from around the world and tells their individual stories.
___ A particularly challenging task for us was to create consistent and harmonic combinations of the extraordinarily wide range of different visuals that are featured throughout the book – including black and white photographs such as historical pictures of old factories that now all sit comfortably and side by side to colourful contemporary ads, product photographs and illustrations.
___ Appropriately the final layout follows a more neutral, minimal visual approach – allowing the brands' history to present itself and let the variety of visuals and the individual journeys through time do the talking across the allocated spreads.
___ The book features a cover by long-time-collaborators 123Klan.
___ A mini-edition (80% of original size) with alternative cover was released in August 2011.

PHOTOGRAPHY | THE GRAPHIC EYE COVER

___ The Graphic Eye features two FL@33 photographs from our vast collection of pictures we took over the years. Book and cover were designed by Stefan G. Bucher – the book's author – who selected one of our photographs for the European front cover of RotoVision's paperback edition (while an American hardcover version was released by Chronicle with an alternative cover).
___ The picture on the red cover was taken by us in a parking lot in the heart of Paris a few years ago – and yes – it really is that red in there. Our picture of the warehouse that is featured inside the book was also taken in Paris. Both are from FL@33's ongoing Vanishing Point series.

BADGE BUTTON PIN SET | BBP4
We were kindly invited by the team behind the highly recommended book Badge Button Pin (BBP) – namely designer Nathan Gale at Intercity and the book's author Gavin Lucas – to create the fourth pack for their independent badge label of the same name. BBP packs are handmade with love and are made available in limited edition via stockists like Magma books in London.
___ For each BBP pack they invite a designer or artist they want to collaborate with. The one inch button badge set of four FL@33 came up with is entitled BBP 004: System Error and features a few samples from our massive collection of glitches and computer crash screenshots we created and filed since the early 1990s. BBP4 was designed in early 2009 and released in winter 2009/2010.
___ FL@33 were once before invited by the team back in 2007 to contribute one of the specially designed badges that were included in a special edition of their book published by Laurence King that year.
___ Update November 2013: System Error rebooted is an extended re-release of these ultra-rare BBP4 badges that are now available again as part of FL@33's contribution of seven button badges to B.I.O. (by invitation only) series 13. Available at Stereohype – separately, as set or in an elegant gift box packaging – also developed by FL@33.

THE SECRET
Original works of art for only £40. You guess who it's by. The postcards are signed only on the reverse. The author of each work remains a secret until after the cards are purchased and the signature on the back is revealed.
___ There are usually 2,500 – 3,000 postcards on display and as we wrote in our book Postcard (Laurence King, 2008):
Viewers (...) must pretend not to be disappointed if they mistake a FL@33 card (such as those featured here) for a Damien Hirst or David Bowie...

___ The words Wood and Stone are embossed and spot UV was used for the special finishing.

TOY2R | CUSTOM BART SIMPSON TOY
We were invited by Hong Kong-based Toy2R for the fifth time after our very own Mr Papillon qee was released by them to customise one of their initially completely white DIY toys.
___ This time it was an 8" (20.3cm) Bart Simpson figure and we gladly joined in since Bart is of course one of our all-time favourites. FL@33 vs Matt Groening vs Toy2R – the design we came up with is not quite as wild as some of the other custom toys we created in the past but our Bart version was accessorised with a few subtle additions we think are rather nice: Starting with the painted Homer Simpson-style underwear with attached Stereohype's As Seen On TV button badge, a piece of chalk in one and last but not least a black roll of paper in the other hand.
___ The paper roll bart is holding features a complete list (until then) of chalkboard openings – everything Bart ever had to write as punishment on his school's blackboard during the opening sequence of The Simpsons.
___ Further down we posted a copy of the complete list we discovered online. Oh – and we did of course select a font (we also found online) featuring Matt Groening's own handwriting.

PATTERNS | BOOK DESIGN, COVER ILLUSTRATION AND TYPE TREATMENT
Following the international success of the FL@33-designed books 200% Cotton (2004) and its sequel 300% Cotton (2006) we were recommissioned by Laurence King Publishing to design the book Patterns – New Surface Design.
___ Designed by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek the original English edition was released in May 2007, a German (Designmuster, Haupt Verlag) and a Spanish edition (Estampados, Art Blume) the following year and also an English mini edition in 2012 (Laurence King Publishing).
___ Shown here are cover variants, sample spreads, chapter openers and the BLAD (Book Layout And Design) – produced prior to starting the complete book design in order for the publisher to be able to present the project at book fairs. At the time of the BLAD being produced the working title was still Contemporary Patterns.

PATTERNS | BOOK DESIGN
Patterns features 400 colour illustrations on 240 pages. All selected images were organised and sorted by colour by the book's author Drusilla Cole. To avoid some of the patterns potentially clashing with each other we had the freedom to edit the whole chain of 400 patterns throughout the book by featuring the most representable ones bigger and vice versa.
___ A particularly versatile grid was developed for this challenging project. And thanks to this grid – and a lot of work – everything came together just fine at the end.

PATTERNS | COVER DESIGN (FIRST EDITION)
FL@33 also designed the book cover. The original English edition had flaps and a combination of special finishing using spot UV highlights and sexy black flock.
___ The Spanish Estampados cover and its type treatment were also created by FL@33 while the front cover lettering (Musterseiten) of German-language edition was unfortunately modified by Laurence King's partner publisher Haupt – hence the lack of a gradient in that case.

PATTERNS | MINI EDITION COVER
In spring 2012 Laurence King Publishing republished the best-selling book as an English mini edition (80% of original size).
___ FL@33 redesigned the cover to fit the new format and – as so often with book covers – went through a series of colourways and possible finishes before deciding on an elegant and fresh turquoise / gold-foil variant – hoping to achieve a similar impact with the new cover compared with its original (even more expensive) predecessor.

Postcard is the very first major publication conceived, compiled, written and designed by Agathe Jacquillat and Tomi Vollauschek at London-based design studio FL@33.

MY BRAND PROJECT | ILLUSTRATION
Following the widely acclaimed My Brand Project (MBP) with its exhibitions in Paris, Barcelona, Berlin and Brussels during 2005 and 2006 a book was supposed to be published by Rumbero Design – the team behind the project – and a Paris-based bookshop that used to be called The Lazy Dog. Unfortunately they announced in summer 2007 that the book will finally not be published.
___ The MBP was a graphic design project investigating the relationship between brands and human beings.
___ The book was supposed to feature the previous My Brand Project participants and specially invited designers such as FL@33. The list of international designers included Michael C. Place, Anthony Burrill, Keep Left Studio, Musa Collective, Hellohikimori, Bastardgraphics and Rumbero Design, besides others.

FL@33 POSTCARD #5 | SHADOWS
Due to popular demand we decided in December 2006 to continue our little postcard series and go into the fifth round with a limited edition of 1,250 postcards printed on 100% post consumer waste.
___ FL@33's postcard #5 features our Shadows illustration – an excerpt from FL@33's monograph published as part of the design&designer book series by Pyramyd Editions.
___ Assorted postcards are being added to all orders at FL@33's online boutique Stereohype.

TYPOGRAPHIC EXPERIMENT | DISPLAYS
A self-initiated FL@33 project that was first presented in a book called New Typographic Design (Laurence King, 2007) where a total of seven FL@33 projects were featured in across categories including Type as Image and Type in Motion.
___ One of the featured projects was the until then previously unreleased typographic experiment Displays. It was created in 2004 and fine-tuned in late 2006 especially for the book.
___ The typeface is based on a mechanical, grid-based alphabet found on signage and information city displays – including Paris where we first noticed them.
___ We designed animated sequences to show how it could be used as an installation in different environments. Some of the stills and a little animation test are shown here.
___ In this context it might be worth pointing out the FL@33 projects AAT – Animated, Acoustic Typefaces (2001) and The 3D Type Book (2011).

Original works of art for only £35. You guess who it's by. The postcards are signed only on the reverse. The author of each work remains a secret until after the cards are purchased and the signature on the back is revealed.

300% COTTON |LAYOUT, GRID AND VISUAL IDENTITY
200% Cotton and its sequel are image-based books containing over 1,000 illustrations each. The grid FL@33 developed had to be flexible, provide consistency, and make the design process relatively systematic.
___ The brief for 300% Cotton was to refresh the layout while maintaining the visual identity of the previous title in the series. We chose to exploit the versatility of the grid by introducing diagonals to the layout. The result is a lively reinterpretation of the previously used system.

___ We teamed up with French duo Antoine+Manuel who previously already collaborated with us to contribute button badges for Stereohype's ongoing B.I.O. (by invitation only) series. They are also showcased in the design&designer monograph series by Pyramyd where FL@33 is published in.
___ Shown here are two book spreads and a few details of the artworks themselves. The FL@33-designed portrait of Antoine+Manuel was created in a way that a new hybrid face emerges. Also shown here is the FL@33 portrait created by Antoine+Manuel – a funny hand-drawn illustration.

TWO FACED BOOK | OFFICIAL BLURB
'Portaits of some of the most talented and influential creatives of the last decade.'
___ Selected artists and designers were paired off and given the task of creating a portrait of the person/collective they had been teamed up with. They could be abstract or photo realistic, hand drawn or digitally composed, they could even have something manufactured, like a toy or sculpture.
___ Everyones final pieces were then compiled into a book (published in April 2007 by idN) and book launch exhibitions were held in Hong Kong and London, showcasing selected work.
___ The final book – entitled Two Faced: The Changing Face of Portraiture has an introduction by Adrian Shaughnessy.

TATTOO ICONS BOOK CONTRIBUTIONS
We were invited by Hong Kong-based publisher Viction:ary to submit graphic icons for the third publication in their Victionary series.
___ The publisher then hand-picked some of the submitted tattoo artworks and produced temporary tattoo stickers to play with. All contributors did receive a handful of these tattoo stickers featuring their own artworks and tattoos by other artists and designers.
___ We were then encouraged to experiment with either our own and/or other people's tattoos, take pictures and/or create illustrations.
___ Our red tattoo featuring the Rabbit 'n' Rainbow motif – that was also screenprinted on T-shirts – also appeared in two other contributors' photoshoots in the book (Pill and Pillow, p.198 and p.201 and Stapelberg & Fritz, pp.390–391).
___ The limited first edition of the book does not only come in an amazing red plastic slipcase but also includes some of the temporary tattoo stickers – including FL@33's – for readers to try their favourite designs.

We were invited by FL@33's regular collaborator Toy2R from Hong Kong to customise one of their great vinyl toys. It has always been a pleasure before and we couldn't resist to get our hands on a brandnew toy shape – the 9" (22.9cm) bunny. This time we cut bits of the plastic ear away and covered the rest with chocolate and sugar balls.
___ A postcard book entitled Toy2R Bunny Qee Fiesta 2 (DIY Bunny Postcard Book 2) featuring our chocolate Yummy Bunny – beside another 55 custom bunnies – was published by Toy2R later that year. The photograph of Yummy Bunny in a fridge was taken by Toy2R upon arrival of the customised toy in Hong Kong.
___ A vector illustration of our Yummy Bunny was also created and made it onto the front cover of the postcard book.

Another designer toy FL@33 customised for Hong Kong-based Toy2R. This time they invited us to customise an 8" (20.3cm) Adidas Qee that we then called Mr Set Letradidas.
___ The customised toys were first publicly shown at the Adidas Adicolor launch exhibition during the Bread & Butter trade fair in Berlin, Germany, 28–29 January 2006.
___ At this occasion the exhibition catalogue (shown here) was published presenting the 40 or so Toy2R Qees. All artists and designers are profiled next to pictures of their custom toys.
___ Original catalogue text: Ingredients / how to – take 3 stripes, one teaspoon of 80s, a handful of Toy2R, then mix well for about 1 hour with Adidas, slowly add 1kg of FL@33, let it mature over night. Then – decorate with Letraset and serve hot. Guten Appetit!

RCA SECRET POSTCARDS 2005
The characters were hand-stitched and featured common DIY picture hooks that would usually be invisible behind displayed artworks.

YOUNG VIC / VESTURPORT / BARBICAN | WOYZECK CAMPAIGN
FL@33 was commissioned by the London's Young Vic theatre to create the visual and print campaign for Georg Büchner's Woyzeck.
___ The final image is a composition using two photographs – one taken by Fred Frei in France and the other by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek.
___ The play was directed by Gísli Örn Gardarsson and performed by Vesturport theatre in October 2005 at Bite:05, Barbican, London, as part of the Young Genius season.
___ The project turned out to be even more exciting for us than anticipated when some of our favourites – namely musicians Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (of the Bad Seeds) signed up – during the development of the campaign – to produce exclusive music for this must-see performance / theatre play.

THE CAMPAIGN
The Woyzeck visual was also used for the book cover of the script publication, the programme, the Barbican and Bite:05 brochures, flyers, online promotion, posters and Don't Panic postcards with attached badge.
