TOMI VOLLAUSCHEK'S POSTCARD CONTRIBUTIONS (3 OF 6)
Shown here are three postcard contributions by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek featuring three of his so-called #loadingmuseum visuals. These compositions are non-modified screenshots of people featured in news broadcasts that happened to have a video loading icon positioned directly on their face while videos are being buffered for streaming.
___ If screenshots can be made successfully in the exact right moment they result in amusing – often satirical – associations with beards and moustaches, smoke rings, monacles and nose rings. #loadingmuseum is a an ongoing series of provoked happy accidents captured to celebrate the beauty of errors and glitches and technical shortcomings of everyday mediums.
___ Theresa (#0062), Boris (#0018) and Donald (#0769). For more of these screenshots please follow Tomi on Instagram or follow his hashtag #loadingmuseum.
___ Another three FL@33 2018 contributions created by Agathe Jacquillat were posted on a separate project page. You can see them here.
___ Agathe and Tomi contributed a total of six postcards for RCA Secret 2018 – the 24th postcard exhibition and fundraising sale.
___ All proceeds support students at the Royal College of Art.
___ We would love to know who bought our cards. Please do let us know if you have any of our RCA Secret contributions. If you can and don't mind please send us a picture or two of the framed postcards for this very website.

THE SECRET

You guess who it's by. The postcards are signed only on the reverse. The author of each work remains a secret until after the cards are purchased and the signature on the back is revealed.
___ There are usually approximately 1,400 – 3,000 postcards on display (in 2018 a total of 1,650 with a maximum of two by contributor, while in 2017 there were only 1449 cards on display with a maximum of two by contributor) – and as we wrote in FL@33's book Postcard (Laurence King, 2008):
Viewers (...) must pretend not to be disappointed if they mistake a FL@33 card (such as those featured here) for a Damien Hirst or ...
