south
bank banner design competition 1997
Almost 10 years after this little catalogue was published we found
a copy in a hidden box and thought we should really add it to our
'press' archive. The competition attracted 2800 designs at the time
and 250 were shortlisted for this catalogue. One of the designs by
tomi vollauschek – who briefly studied at london's camberwell
college at the time – made it into the catalogue. Not sure what
happened with the original but the A2-sized artwork was manually put
together using countless cross-processed slides with details of the
south bank complex. It wasn't selected as one of the thirty or so
winning entries to be produced as a huge banner but it's still a nice
little catalogue featuring a surprisingly big amount of artworks along
tomi's by designers who are much better known these days than they
were back in 1997. So if you guys read this: There is no denying it
– i have a copy here. You know who you are... 8)
